Adama-class Fleet Defence Carrier

Adama Class | Fleet Defence / Aerospace Support Carrier | 1,025 metres

At 1,025 metres, the Adama class carrier is a substantial capital ship, but unlike the TMF's much larger Star Carriers, it is not primarily intended for strategic power projection. Instead, the class operates at the heart of a fleet formation, providing a layered defensive envelope around carriers, Linebreakers, cruisers and supporting vessels.

The Adama-class aerospace support carrier is equipped with a focus on fighters and interceptors, enabling it to establish combat air patrols, intercept hostile strike craft, and reinforce threatened areas of the formation. Unlike traditional carriers that concentrate their aircraft for large offensive strikes, this fleet defence carrier can maintain continuous defensive coverage around a battlegroup during extended operations.

Its aerospace capabilities are bolstered by powerful sensor arrays, advanced electronic warfare systems, and a wide range of point- and area-defence weaponry. In coordination with Caspian-class frigates and other fleet escorts, the Adama-class serves as a critical component of a defensive network capable of identifying incoming threats, distributing targeting information, and engaging hostile missiles and strike craft before they reach the fleet's capital ships.

Moreover, the Adama-class's protected hangars, workshops, and support facilities enable the recovery, repair, and return of damaged fighters and smaller craft to service during sustained operations. Thus, its role extends beyond merely launching fighters—the carrier functions as a mobile aerospace base and defensive coordination center for the surrounding formation.

Despite its designation as a carrier, the Adama-class is heavily fortified. Its armor, redundant systems, and defensive batteries reflect the harsh reality that a vessel tasked with protecting the fleet will inevitably become a prime target. While it carries enough conventional armament to defend itself, directly engaging enemy capital ships is not its primary purpose.

Where a Linebreaker acts as the fleet's offensive force and a Star Carrier projects power across an entire theatre, the Adama-class fulfills a less glamorous but equally vital role. It serves as the shield behind which the rest of the fleet fights.
